After releasing "Dynamite," BTS has broken another record as the single became the most viewed music video on Youtube in 24 hours with over 100 million streams.
As of writing, Youtube has confirmed that BTS' new single "Dynamite" has garnered 101.1 million views in just one day on the platform, making the MV the most-viewed clip in history. This means that the boyband has taken the crown from previous record holders, BLACKPINK, with their single "How You Like That."
On August 21, it was reported that BTS' "Dynamite" registered more than twice the peak of live views than BLACKPINK's "How You Like That." As the music video was released, Youtube recorded three to four million concurrent views from the video.
BTS member Jimin spoke to an online press conference as the music video aired on Youtube, stating that everyone in the world is going through tough times right now, nobody expected this, and the group couldn't do a lot of the things that were planned. Jimin added that they felt empty and helpless as an artist and needed a breakthrough to overcome the emptiness they felt.
Moreover, Jimin stated that their single "Dynamite" came as an opportunity to try something new and is a song that can lift someone's spirits through these dark times.
In earlier reports, BTS shared why they changed their way of composing as to what their fans are used to. BTS stated that they wanted to do something for the world, something suitable for everyone as we all face the COVID-19 pandemic.
BTS' leader, RM, stated that who would have thought about COVID-19 being this big? No group meetings, no karaokes, no concerts. RM says that "we never thought to sing this song in English fully. The thought just came to us during the process of making our album."
As of today, BTS's "Dynamite" has racked up nearly 200 million views on Youtube.
