BTS has been a significant motivator far outside the entertainment industry. They have global power and use it to make the planet a better place.
As a team and as individuals, the members have addressed pressing issues like health, education, and equality. Most recently, Jimin contributed KRW 100 million ($85,000) to learners in the South Jeolla Province of Korea.
In June, BTS donated $1 million to the Black Lives Matter campaign, which fans wholeheartedly supported. And just recently, due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, BTS has been implementing the required safety protocols since it started and has inspired fans to do so. (via Koreaboo)
Now, the World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General is cordially inviting BTS to take part in a "crossover." On August 23, Tedro Adhanom Ghebreyesus pleasantly greeted the famous boy band and congratulated them for their latest release 'Dynamite.' The World Health Assembly is the decision-making body of the WHO as per its leading site.
WHO gets to appoint the Director-General, manages financial strategies and assessments, and passes the development program's budget. Every year, an in-person meeting with the World Health Assembly members is organized and is conducted annually in Geneva, Switzerland.
WHO knows? BTS once spoke to the UN, and it wouldn't be too unreasonable to assume if they appeared at the World Health Assembly as well!
BTS' WIDESPREAD INFLUENCE
BTS has cited musical inspirations such as Seo Taiji and Boys, Justin Bieber, Nas, Eminem, Kanye West, Drake, Post Malone, Charlie Puth, and Danger.
The iconic boy group also mentioned Queen as an inspiration, with Suga claiming that he "grew up sitting and tirelessly streaming Aid videos." Meanwhile, Jin paid homage to Queen throughout their live show at Wembley Stadium in London by having led the audience in a version of Freddie Mercury's "ay-oh" chant from the band's Live Aid music event.
