Lee Dong Wook accommodated an interview with tvN to talk about his upcoming fantasy drama "Tale of the Nine-Tailed"!
The "urban fantasy drama," "Tale of the Nine-Tailed," tells the story of a male gumiho (a mythical nine-tailed fox) named Yi Yeon (Lee Dong Wook) who has lived in the city and the fearless producing director (Jo Bo Ah) who is determined to hunt him down.
Portraying as the gumiho Yi Yeon is Lee Dong Wook, who once ruled as the guardian spirit of the Baekdudaegan Mountain Range but now lives in the city. While serving as a judge who punishes monsters that tries to wreck the world of the living, Yi Yeon travels between this world and the underworld.
With the positive response of the public to his casting for the role, Lee Dong Wook shared that he is very thankful that people are reacting by saying that the gumiho character fits him well visually. Regarding his decision to star in the drama, he said that it's like a mixture of genres rather than pure fantasy, so he had a lot of fun reading the script. He revealed that he likes the concept of a male gumiho, which breaks the people's preconceptions of what a gumiho is.
Furthermore, he explained that Yi Yeon is a character with lots of scars. Lee Dong Wook expressed that he's doing his best to portray the emotions of Yi Yeon, who pretends to be fine on the outside, but the inside has been in pain for a long time.
Lee Dong Wook learned his action scenes at a stunt school for him to show the innate charisma of a guardian spirit. He also worked hard to create detailed scenes. He paid close attention to his styling as a character who lives in a penthouse and cares more about looking perfect than eating the liver, which is a traditional gumiho's favorite food. Lee Dong Wook changed up his hair color and worn monochromatic outfits with accessories to emphasize Yi Yeon's sophisticated aura and to accentuate the looks.
Moreover, also the focus of attention in the drama is the romance of Lee Dong Wook with Jo Bo Ah. The actor opened up about Jo Bo Ah and said that the actress brings vigor to the set with her optimistic and bright energy. Jo Bo Ah, according to Lee Dong Wook, is openminded, and he found no difficulty in exchanging thoughts with her.
Regarding Kim Bum in the drama, Lee Dong Wook revealed that he had known him for a very long time, and they are working together comfortably and naturally. He continued that he learned a lot from Kim Bum for being an excellent junior who works hard at everything and always comes prepared.
Finally, Lee Dong Wook expressed his heartfelt message for fans and potential viewers of the drama. He said that he hopes fans and viewers will enter their fantasy world that's far away from reality with an open heart and will comfortably enjoy the drama. "We have a lot to show. So you'll be able to enjoy it."
As per the production team, "Lee Dong Wook is the actor who turns Yi Yeon from the script come to life. Lee Dong Wook will be showing magnificent acting and diversity of charms in every episode of 'Tale of the Nine-Tailed.'"
Lee dong Wook's portrayal in "Tale of the Nine-Tailed" will be witnessed on October 7 at 10:30 p.m. KST.
