Park Bo Gum and male co-stars received a surprise HPV vaccination in the recent episodes of tvN "Record of Youth."
In episode four, Jin Woo (Kwon Soo Hyun) contacted his friends and told them that he is in trouble. So, Sa Hye Jun (Park Bo Gum), along with Won Hae Hyo (Byeon Woo Seok), rushed to the clinic, wondering what happened to their friend Jin Woo.
Sa Hye Jun and Won Hae Hyo teased Jin Woo if he is in a relationship because of wanting to get an HPV vaccine. Jin Woo denied and hid that he is currently dating Won Hae Na, Won Hae Hyo's sister.
Won Hae Na (Joo Yoo Jung) insisted the night before that Jin Woo should get three shots of the vaccine before they go more in-depth with their relationships because it would protect her as a woman and could avoid future detection of cervical cancer. According to recent studies, HPV vaccines help protect the spread of cervical cancer in any sexual contact.
Sa Hye Jun was in a shocking condition since he was the first to get the doctor's shot. After they completed the vaccine shots, they all took pictures and posted on their SNS account, showing they had fun together in the clinic.
The drama tried to portray the young generation's reality for what is the best protection and right decisions for health when engaged in a serious relationship.
Online communities made a buzz that thought it was one of the drama's PPL (product placement advertisements) that made it more interesting. The production crew of the tvN drama "Record of Youth" clarified that the scene filmed in the clinic was not part of PPL.
Netizens complimented how the drama helps the viewers understand the safety and consequences of taking HPV vaccines for the need of the women and men.
The tvN's drama "Record of Youth" airs every Monday-Tuesday at 9:00 p.m. KST.
