BLACKPINK sets a new record ahead of its full-length album release, surpassing 1 million stock pre-orders!

On October 2, YG Entertainment confirmed that “THE ALBUM” of BLACKPINK had surpassed 1 million stock pre-orders. For the record, this is the highest number of stock pre-orders for a K-pop group. BLACKPINK is also the first Korean girl group to surpass 1 million stock pre-orders.

The number of stock pre-orders is the amount of album stock produced before the album release. It is also the estimated demand that is well calculated based on different factors, including the number of albums pre-ordered by avid fans.

In BLACKPINK’s case, the numbers around the world are combined with the number of stock pre-orders. At the time of this writing, Korea has the highest number of pre-orders, with 670,000 units. Second, on the list are the United States and Europe, with a total of 340,000 units.

In addition to the given numbers, there are 18,888 of limited edition LPs sold out earlier. With all the numbers combined, BLACKPINK garnered stock pre-orders of more than 1 million units.

YG Entertainment expects that the final total sales will still be increasing even further as BLACKPINK will release their album in physical form. After four days of the digital release, it is expected that the physical albums will be available in the market.

THE ALBUM” and the title track “Lovesick Girls,” were already released on October 2. The album consists of eight tracks. Two of them are the pre-released singles “How You Like That” and “Ice Cream (feat. Selena Gomez).

The album includes a B-Side track that features American artist - Cardi B. It can be noted that Jennie participated in the production and lyric writing for the title track “Lovesick Girls,” while Jisoo also participated in writing the lyrics. (Via Soompi)
