SM Entertainment has finally quenched fans' excitement by releasing the teasers for the NCT 2020's upcoming album 'RESONANCE Pt.2' to their social media accounts.
The teaser immediately aroused interest among fans. However, it was not able to escape from the eagle-eyed netizens. As many have claimed, the teaser appears to have an uncanny resemblance to the teasers of the designer label Sunnei's 2020 campaign.
A supposed excitement turns into disappointments
The upcoming album of the group is the sequel of their highly successful RESONANCE Pt.1. This recent release is SM Entertainment's teaser for fans for the second half.
In three rows, the members appear in avant-garde clothing as they stand side-by-side. The boys resemble almost similar poses and with straight faces.
The others have their hands in their pockets and most with their hands to the side.
As a whole, the teaser divulges a simple look as the boys are pictured against a white background. On top and the bottom of the teaser are their group name, the album name, and the names of the members are in black to create an embossed look.
After the release, the teaser piqued interest from both local and international fans. However, the meticulous fans started noticing the concept's similarity to Sunnei's SS20 Collection's campaign photos.
It was just this February when the campaign was released in celebration of the brand's fifth anniversary. The brand's models are wearing similar clothing to NCT's concept, and all have the same straight-faced look. And just like the teasers of NCT, the models are in three rows lined up side-by-side.
What's making it more intriguing is the 'I hate "fashion"' shirt of Sungchan, which is also seen worn by one model in Sunnei's campaign. The sweater is said to be one of the most popular items from the collection.
Fans Know It All
The netizen who recognized the similarities said that the teaser for NCT's new album is copied for Sunnei's 22 S/S Campaign photos.
Now, the Korean netizens are accusing plagiarism against SM Entertainment. They said that NCT's teasers are nearly identically to Sunnei's campaign photos. One comment also pointed out that SM Entertainment already has a long history of plagiarism and has been accused of it many times before.
