Kim Hyun Joong finally ended his five-year legal battle with his ex-girlfriend as he won the damages suit filed by the latter.
The Supreme Court dismissed an appeal filed by the ex-girlfriend of Kim Hyun Joong on the afternoon of November 12, KST. With this, Kim Hyun Joong's ex-girlfriend will have to pay 100 million KRW (roughly 89,723 USD) and loss incurred by delay to Kim Hyun Joong.
The Long Battle Of Will
Kim Hyun Joong's ex-girlfriend previously filed a compensation suit, saying that he was assaulted by Kim Hyun Joong and had a miscarriage. However, the complainant lost in both the first and second trials.
In April 2012, Kim Hyun Joong and "A" started dating. The said relationship lasted for two years. However, in August 2014, "A" filed a case against Kim Hyun Joong but dropped the lawsuit after receiving 600 million KRW (about 538,300 USD).
Meanwhile, in 2015, she sued him again and demanded him to pay 1.6 billion KRW (about 1,435,582 USD) in damages.
That same year, July, Kim Hyun Joong filed a counterclaim to "A." He sued her, stating that she violated the confidential agreement and damaged his reputation. The actor claimed that "A" released false rumors to the media.
A New Light For Kim Hyun Joong
In 2016, the first trial ruled in favor of Kim. They stated that the actor's ex-girlfriend failed to present any shreds of evidence that may support her claims of having a miscarriage by Kim Hyun Joong's assault or him forcing her to terminate her pregnancy.
They also revealed that "A" defamed Kim Hyun Joong so much that it became difficult for him to continue his career as a celebrity. The jury then told "A" to pay Kim Hyung Joong 100 million KRW.
Moreover, "A" contested and appealed. However, the second trial upheld the original ruling.
Meanwhile, recently, Kim Hyun Joong released his new album A Bell of Blessing and held his online concert. As per the actor's agency, Kim Hyun Joong, at the moment, has no upcoming schedules.
