Stray Kids Rocking 2020
On November 23, KST, TIME published the annual list of its picks for the ten best songs of the year, and Stray Kids made a list for the first time.
Alongside titles like WAP by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, LITTLE NOKIA by Bree Runway, Yo Perreo Sola (Remix) by Bad Bunny, Nesi, and Ivy Queen, and Good News by Mac Miller, Stray Kids' recent title track "Back Door" came in at No. 8.
The magazine praised the boy group's unique and genre-hopping production for the song. In a written statement by Raisa Bruner, she said that there's not a single musical style it doesn't exuberantly co-opt, in an artful Frankenstein that's as catchy as it is complicated.
The acclaimed journalist continued saying that there are dramatic airhorns, a trap chorus, slinky R&B breaks, jazz interludes, electronic beats that would rile up festival crowds, and others more likely to be found in underground clubs. "It's hard not to become enraptured by the sheer bravado of the song—both in the brassy energy of the eight performers and its multi-layered production," she added.
