With the South Korean entertainment now shaking with the resurgence of COVID-19 cases, UP10TION's Bitto tested positive for coronavirus.
The Ministry of Health contacted Bitto on November 29 for a test. The actor was called out since he came into close contact with a COVID-19 patient. T.O.P Media revealed that the UP10TION member was tested right away and received a positive diagnosis on the 30th in the morning.
Bitto Is Positive For The Virus
After the unfortunate reveal by T.O.P Media that Bitto got a positive laboratory result, the male idol's agency confirmed that all the artists and staff contacted him are currently being tested. Simultaneously, following the Ministry of Health's instructions, the company building will be going under quarantine.
Furthermore, the company also apologized to all the staff who unknowingly came into contact with Bitto. The apology statement explained that the idol didn't realize he had contacted a COVID-19 patient.
The agency added, "The following scheduled activities of UP10TION have all been canceled, and once again, we will do our best to take care of our artists and manage sanitation for COVID-19."
It All Started In Music Core And Inkigayo
Much about Bitto's positive result, it was also revealed by his agency that the reason why the idol was called out for testing is that he appeared on the Music Core and Inkigayo television music programs with the other members of UP10TION on Saturday and Sunday.
He was told that during the event, he had been in close contact with a confirmed case.
Other K-pop group members who also appeared on the programs also went for testing. This includes the new girl group Aespa and boy band NCT.
Today, South Korea is now fighting to contain a resurgence in cases after seeing initial success against the coronavirus. The country's daily new infections are now climbing by more than 400 over four straight days.
