The 1/3 rapper of Big Hit Entertainment's boy group, BTS, earns appreciation from fans worldwide after he graced the Melon Music Awards 2020 with an explosive performance of Dynamite, alongside fellow members of the band.
The performance captured fans' attention when J-hope paid tribute to the late American singer-dance and "King of Pop," Michael Jackson.
J-hope stormed over the trending list after BTS's performance
Allkpop reported on December 6 (Sunday) that the world's most phenomenal K-pop group main dancer, J-hope, started to trend worldwide after the band concluded its performance at the MMA 2020 with Dynamite.
The performance stunned the fans when BTS gave another rendition of it on the bridge part of the song, leading the six lads (Suga is still a no-show) to showcase a breakout dance segment. The dance breaker had the Chicken Noodle Soup singer-rapper flaunt off his Michael Jackson moves, alongside a black hat, which MJ uses on his performances.
It was made special as the late American singer-dancer fans were touched by the showcase of the 26-year-old South Korean idol. Hobi then trended on the Worldwide list on Twitter, finishing at number two, making the dance break very iconic.
J-hope gets a nod from Michael Jackson's nephew
In another report by Allkpop, the nephew of the late singer, Taj Jackson, showed his love and support to J-hope shortly after BTS performed at the MMA 2020. Taj retweeted the performance of BTS, showing the dance break of Hobi.
BTS's Dynamite performance comes after its showcase of Black Swan, ON, and Life Goes On. And with no hesitations, despite lacking Suga in the ensemble, J-hope made the viewers of the awards show drop their jaw with his remarkable homage to MJ.
Aside from Taj, K-netizens also showed their praise to Hobi's dance break. The massive fandom of BTS also joined in, making Hobi trend worldwide.
