BLACKPINK's huge hit "How You Like That" has surpassed and broken several records since the launch a few weeks earlier — both in Korea and worldwide.

Now, Billboard's music experts have assessed why BLACKPINK is taking the world by storm.
Anna Chan, Billboard's senior editor of consumer news, says BLACKPINK's manifestation of girl power has acted a part in their achievement.
Furthermore, their music videos' themes and lyrics demonstrate a take-no-BS side of which young people today can connect.
Nolan Feeney, a senior editor of Billboard's print features, referred to BLACKPINK's lyrics to define their success. Besides showing off an "omnivorous" sound that comprises many of the world's favorite styles, their lyrics are easy for anyone to sing.
Also, BLACKPINK's songs tend to emphasize a lot of English phrases dispersed throughout the songs. For example, around 70% of the lyrics of "Kill This Love" are in English.
And even when the lyrics aren't in English, the sounds are generally simple enough to follow, like "ddu du ddu du" in the song of the same name, or "dumdumdum dururu" at the end of "How You Like That."
According to a senior editor, Gab Ginsberg, a portion of the band's popularity comes from the devoted BLINK fandom.
Ginsberg describes how she and her peers started listening to Girls' Generation back in university. Still, social networking sites hadn't taken off enough to publicly strike up a conversation about the band.
However, BLACKPINK can reach fans all around the globe who can organize continued support for the group's releases.
"BLACKPINK has created a massive and dedicated fan base already, and those supporters will do everything they can to support the group in return." Jason Lipshutz, senior music director of Billboard, agrees that BLINKs deserve all the credit and recognition for this.
With a vast fandom and so much digital engagement with the band, it's no wonder that "How You Like That" ascended to certain peaks on YouTube and streaming sites after the official launch.
Deputy editor Andrew Unterberger also agrees to credit the group's plausible attitude for their steadfast success.
From their lyrics to the performances, BLACKPINK gives off so much spirit and influence that it's nearly impossible not to recognize them as the world's biggest girl group.
