The Boyz's members sat down for an interview with News1 to talk about the teamwork they've portrayed alongside choreographer Mihawk in the recently concluded "Road To Kingdom."
The Mnet's idol competition, "Road to Kingdom," had a magnificent line-up who competed for the first place title. With a strong will, perseverance, and teamwork, "The Boyz" was able to grab the top spot among other talented newcomer groups.
According to Soompi, aside from the strong work ethic and talent of "The Boys," playing a significant role in the group's evident growth is choreographer Mihawk Back.
Mihawk Back is the choreographer known for his shared expertise in SM Entertainment artists, such as BoA, TVXQ, Taemin, EXO, Red Velvet, and many more. Last year was supposed to be the first teaming-up of the choreographer and the Cre.Ker Entertainment's "The Boyz," but due to the conflicting schedules, he canceled the label's call.
In the interview, the choregrapher uttered that he sees a lot of potential in the new group based on their performance videos. He also noted that strong chemistry among the group members would give them a breakthrough.
The members, Q, Juyeon, Jacob, and Sunwoo, were asked to cite their hardest performance and the performance they were satisfied with.
Q chose Taemin's "Danger" for the hardest performance. He shared that his body stiffed and weirdly did not coordinate with his thoughts. Q also noted that it was the hardest performance both during practice and during the actual stage.
Meanwhile, Juyeon picked "Shangri-La" by VIXX and said that the new style in the performance made it difficult to execute. To convey the beauty of the song, they focused on making the performance attractive rather than emphasizing techniques.
Jacob agreed with Juyeon, revealing that they have to go barefooted in the practices to maintain the balance while trying to nail the details of the execution in the choreography.
Moreover, Sunwoo admitted that he has never been satisfied with his performances, and even when he reviews their production, he always says that he could have done better. But with the question of ideal performance, he chose "REVEAL," which he considered the coolest.
The choreographer Mihawk Back also picked the favorite performance of "The Boyz," he chose "Checkmate," where he saw the growth of the member's skills since he met them.
The members of the group were also asked about their ultimate goals. With strong determination, Sunwoo responded that to hit the mark on Billboard is their ultimate dream.
"We have hopes of becoming like BTS; that's why we work hard. And even if Billboard is such a huge dream, having great ambitions gives us energy," Sunwoo said. "But making ourselves known in South Korea comes first."
