Earlier on August 4, police confirmed that 2AM's Im Seulong encountered an accident while driving a car, hitting a jaywalking pedestrian.
Per Seoul Seoba Police Station, Im Seulong was driving his SUV at 11:50 PM, KST, on the road in Eunpyeong, Seoul. The police elaborated that it was raining when Im Seulong struck a man crossing the road even though the pedestrian signal was still red. The man was brought to the hospital immediately but passed away due to his injuries.
After the incident, the Seoul Seoba Police Station stated that they are still investigating the accident to see whether Im Seulong violated the Road Traffic Act.
Based on reports, Seulong was immediately interviewed by the police after the incident and was informed he would be summoned at a later date for additional questions. Based on police reports, Im Seulong was not driving under the influence, but the police expressed that they will be investigating other possibilities, such as speeding.
However, the police noted that it is still difficult for them to jump into conclusions immediately since the investigation is ongoing. "We humbly ask for your understanding that we cannot reveal the details regarding the investigation."
Meanwhile, Im Seulong's agency, Jellyfish Entertainment, has released an official statement regarding the singer's accident.
The agency detailed the accident, including the death of the person hit by Seulong's car and the rainy night when the unfortunate event happened. They noted that Im Seulong immediately took emergency measures on-site. Still, the victim could not withstand the injury due to the impact and eventually passed away on the way to the hospital.
The agency asked for understanding to the people following the incident that they can't provide details for now since the police investigation was not revealed yet. "Once again, may the victim rest in peace, and we send our deepest condolences to his family."
