Jang Geun Suk officially completes mandatory military service. He was discharged on March 29 from his post at the Seoul Metropolitan Fire & Disaster Headquarters.
He officially began his mandatory military duty last July 16, 2018. He was diagnosed with a bipolar disorder before his enlistment. Due to his diagnosis, he was ordered to carry out his mandatory service duties in the field of public service instead.
Given the public's social distancing advisory to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID19), the actor was relieved from his public service duties without any particular events.
The actor released a statement that he would like to rest privately in the meantime, hoping the fans will not bother him as he rests.
Jang Geun Suk is both an actor and a singer in South Korea. He debuted as a child actor back in 1997 and released his first single as a singer in 2011.
He was known for his “pretty boy” image and was usually given the role of a handsome protagonist in his dramas. However, in 2016, the actor starred in a historical drama ‘The Royal Gambler’ where he played a gambler who rivals the King.
Through the said drama, Jang Geun Suk was able to shed off his pretty image, allowing him to explore more diverse roles from thereon.
The actor was known for his dramas like You're Beautiful (2009), Mary Stayed Out All Night (2010), Love Rain (2012), Pretty Man (2013), The Royal Gambler (2016), and Switch (2018). His fame skyrocketed to Japan as well after starring in You're Beautiful.
Previously, Jang Geun Suk went to school in New Zealand, where he attended Nelson College in 2003 to learn English and Japanese. Learning these languages helped him in promoting his activities in Japan.
He also gained praise when he starred in the movie The Case of Itaewon Homicide, where he spoke in English throughout the movie. The fans are now excited about what he has in store now that his military service is done.
