It has been recently reported that the Korean public highly denounced Jessica because the cover layouts of her new novel were intimately associated with her tenure days with Girls' Generation. The synopsis of the story also has a similar case as hers.
'Shine,' the first novel by Jessica, is all about a Korean American teenager who travels to South Korea to fulfill her aspirations of being a K-pop singer.
Rachel Kim becomes a member of a nine-girl group under one of the biggest record labels in South Korea. She tries to align the burden and seek achievement while resisting her increasing strong emotions for the golden boy of K-Pop, Jason Lee.
On September 24, her book publisher RH Korea told the local channels that the news about idol's novel includes multiple misleading information about it.
Moreover, the novel was produced through the writer's imagination and creativity. The publisher made it clear that the story was not extracted from actual experience. RH Korea made it entirely fictitious.
"Jessica's upcoming novel truly is based on the real experiences and life of a K-pop star. Narrating the typical story of the long training process they endure before finally debuting in the industry, and the criticism and challenges every K-pop idols experience nowadays, specifically the female artists." The book has already been sold and translated to various languages and is soon available to 11 countries, including Brazil, Indonesia, and Vietnam!
Furthermore, the crew that worked on Netflix Teen Rom-com smash 'To All the Boy I've Loved' dreams about the novel developing into a film. RH Korea says it has not been verified but is still in development negotiations. The book will be available at a subsequent date, initially planned for the end of September.
