Two of South Korea’s most prominent K-pop groups, BTS and BLACKPINK, have marked its first traditional costume fashion global craze through re-fashioning Hanbok.
To today’s fashion era, K-pop idols are known for the sole curators of noteworthy trends, whether it be clothing or demeanor features. And with the revamp of the Korean clothing, the two K-pop groups have added more authenticity and beauty to the apparel. Aside from re-designing the Hanbok, BTS and BLACKPINK exhibited the Korean clothing not just in the country but to the world.
BLACKPINK in Hanboks
The South Korean femme fatale has given a different angle in wearing the Hanbok. In the group’s chart-topping How You Like That music video, Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa wore modernized Hanboks, giving off the costume a new vibe.
Furthermore, the respective Hanboks worn by the quartet hails Danha Judan as its creator, who is dominating the K-pop industry by storm.
Hanbok is one essential to the emerging existence of K-pop culture in the world, especially in the K-drama and K-fashion industry. And for the time being, the fashion world is calling South Korea to take its traditional costume one level higher due to the worldwide trend.
BTS’ Suga in Hanbok
BTS Suga comes second after BLACKPINK in extravagantly donning the Korean clothing.
In May, Suga, aka Agust D, dropped his solo single Daechwita, wearing a Hanbok on its music video. On July 5, the music video climbed the 100-million mark on Youtube, as Suga has captured his fans’ attention in eccentrically wearing the Hanbok.
Meanwhile, The Korean Government and different concerned agencies have launched programs aiming to spread the K-culture worldwide. Having that said, the 2020 Hallyu-linked Collaborative Content Planning and Development Support was established. The organization glazes to support companies of any scale size in producing Hanboks that will help spread the Korean wave.
