Berry Good's Johyun is under fire for knowingly endangering the lives of her staff members from COVID-19. Netizens are upset.
On December 5, Saturday, Berry Good's Johyun is currently suspected of putting his staff member's life at risk for COVID-19 due to her behavior. On December 1, Johyun attended an interview ahead of her official premiere for 'The Dragon Inn Part 1: The City of Sadness', followed by media men and an on-site manager.
Berry Good's Johyun and the manager all have undergone COVID-19 testing before the official date of interview was attended. However, the managing label did not inform the attendees headed by the movie premiere's marketing team that the two underwent COVID-19 testing.
Moreover, the interview was conducted the following day, led by the media men and actor Ji Ill Joo. It was also confirmed that one of the media men had attended another press conference giving a higher chance of COVID transmission in the event.
The same day of the premiere, Berry Good Johyun's manager and JTG Entertainment's CEO have received a positive result for COVID-19. That being said, Berry Good members had been tested immediately and later on received negative results for Coronavirus.
Despite having negative results for COVID-19, some netizens are condemning Johyun and the agency for attending the event without having the COVID-19 results yet. Some netizens made it clear that it is essential for celebrities and managing labels to be fully aware of their health status before conducting and attending a public event.
Furthermore, it was clear that while some K-pop artists have been tested positive for COVID-19, the label and the artist themselves make a public announcement about it and are postponing the event or public appearance to avoid further virus transmission. Due to the high-risk threat of COVID-19 in South Korea, crowded and public events are still restricted.
Berry Good's label promptly addressed the issue, assuring the fans that they will conduct re-investigation if some other staff or artists had potential contact with an infected person. JTG Entertainment stressed that they prioritize their employees' and artists' health and safety by following strict guidelines ordered by the health authorities.
That being said, Johyun and other Berry Good members are now undergoing self-quarantine for two weeks following the positive result of their CEO.
