Jung Yujin (MAIL) talks regarding her previous experience on 'The Voice of Korea 2020.'
In 2015, Jung Yujin officially started her career for the first time with the five-member band 'The Ark.' Jung Yujin took a break three months after their launch to undertake the procedure to repair nodules from the vocal cord. During her recovery, she discovered that the group disbanded, so she began her solo music career as MAIL in 2019.
In her opinion about her previous band's disbandment, Jung Yujin said she's not the type of person to say she's having a difficult time, but she admitted that it was hard for her. Jung Yujin had decided to attend the Dong-Ah Institute of Media and Arts as a practical music student after healing from her operation.
While deciding between becoming an artist and a voice coach, she approached her present managing label, MOT Entertainment agency, and made her solo debut. One year after debuting as a solo act, Jung Yujin auditioned for "The Voice of Korea 2020." She said that after becoming a solo artist, the pressure to perform in a large crowd was too much for her to bear, and it made her lose confidence in herself.
She then decided to sign herself up to the singing audition to break the ice and receive good mentorship from the judges of the show. Jung Yujin sang Ben's 'Love, ing' on her blind performance audition and broke down in tears after obtaining an "all-turn," indicating every jury had hit the pass button to signify their intention to work alongside her.
She said that the song was about to end with only one verse left for her to sing, so she got worried, but luckily all of the judges turned around and made her burst into tears.
Jang Yujin's blind audition obtained three Million likes on YouTube and managed to catch Ben's eyes and ears. Ben also posted the screenshot of her performance on her Instagram account with an emotional caption saying that the audition performance made her cry.
"I am a Ben fan," said Jung Yujin. I've also posted my versions of her songs to my Youtube channel 'Love, ing,' '180 Degree,' 'Thank You for Goodbye.' She told me y performance moved her after listening, so I wrote her a personal message. "I appreciated your performance," she even replied. Just good days ahead of you are coming, so do not weep and remain strong. Let us sing both for a long, long time. "I was very grateful because, in her words, I truly did hear the sincerity." via Soompi.
Jung Yujin made it to the top eight candidates of 'The Voice' of Korea 2020. After her fantastic performance on the show, she said people started noticing her and that the program itself helped her a lot in her music career.
Jung Yujin is currently making preparations for a new song release for this month and plans to shoot new cover songs for her YouTube channel.
