Song II Gook talks about his current musical '42nd Street' in his recent interview.
The musical '42nd Street' is a show that gives hope to those who dream of becoming a musical actor, wrote Soompi. In the interview, Song II Gook expressed that he is a bit embarrassed to say that he is a part of it. He recalled that during the audition for actors at the broadcasting station, he wasn't that desperate to get in.
The actor reveals that the reason for his embarrassment is that he looked at himself as less than his colleagues, and he treats himself as having a lack of talent. And though he was able to star in a lead role of a one-act drama and a morning series, he still seeks growth despite his standing.
Song II Gook noted that he changed his attitude towards work after he encountered his co-stars in the play 'I Am You' who worked in manual labor in the morning and played a role at night.
Being a son of actress and politician Kim Eul Dong, Song II Gook expressed that he found it difficult to level his acting skills to his mother. And while he was rehearsing for 'I Am You,' she sought help to his mother, considering that she's been a teacher for many actors. He continued that his mother took his script and helped him through the night, and he shared that the play gave him so many gifts of learning.
Furthermore, the actor also shared his gratefulness towards his wife- Jung Seung Yeon, for having a keen ear for pitch even in their different interests. Song II Gook said that her wife sang in the court choir and took part in a clarinet club in Busan. When he sings at their home, his wife could quickly identify if he sings off-key. "She's the best manager I have."
In the interview, Song II Gook was also asked about his famous triplets' dreams- Daehan, Minguk, and Manse. He said that their aspiration and goals are still abstract. Daehan and Minguk both want to become scientists and generals, while Manse says that he wants to own a donut store. He also observed that Minguk shows a lot of interest when he practices acting at home.
Moreover, Song II Gook said that he is grateful that his mother let him do what he wanted back then. He expressed that he did not become an actor by force, and that is what he wants to share with his children to support them in whatever they want to do.
KBS' 'The Return of Superman' became the door for the triplets, Daehan, Manse, and Minguk, to rise into fame.
