DIA are officially back as they release their music video for ‘Hug U’!
‘Hug U’ is the title song of the girl group's sixth mini album 'Flower 4 Seasons' that was released on June 10, 2020. However, the girls returned with just 5 members instead of 7.
Eunice, Jueun, Huihyeon, Yebin, and Eunchae are promoting the track without Jung Chae Yeon and Somyi. As the girls previously stated, they will be returning as a unit instead for this comeback.
During the comeback showcase, DIA's Ki Hee Hyun addressed the issue on behalf of the team, stating, "During a meeting about our comeback with the company, we came to the decision to release an album with only the members who volunteered to promote. The other two members said that they wanted more time to rest, and so the agency respected their wishes."
Ki Hee Hyun continued, "The other two members are preparing so that they can participate in the next album. We noticed the other members' empty spots while practicing for this comeback. We hope that the fans will not worry about our unit promotions, and look forward to next time.” Allkpop reported.
DIA, shortened from DIAMOND and acronym for Do It Amazing, is a South Korean girl group formed by MBK Entertainment. The group is currently composed of seven members: Eunice, Jueun, Huihyeon, Yebin, Chaeyeon, Eunchae, and Somyi. DIA officially debuted on September 17, 2015, with their lead single "Somehow" from debut album Do It Amazing.
Member Eunchae joined the group in 2016. She was added to the group when previous member Seunghee left the on April of that year. DIA then released their first mini-album ‘Happy Ending’ by June.
On April 2017, two additional members were announced after the group started their own reality show that aired on the TV network Onstyle. The new members who were added are Jueun and Somyi.
However, due to health problems, member Eunjin had to leave the group back in 2018. Another member, Jenny, also left the group in 2019 due to a knee injury, leaving the group with seven members only.
For the fans that were sad that DIA returned with five members this time around, member Hee hyun left a comment saying, “The members are preparing for the next comeback,” Hee hyun continued. “We’re going to work hard in these promotions so that we can do the next album together. Please show a lot of interest in not only this album, but also our next album.”
