Cosmic Girls, also famous for the name WJSN, has repeatedly proved that they could be one of the K-pop industry's trends and the world. The South Korean all-girl group won the 'Hallyu Star Award' at the recently concluded '2020 Newsis Hallyu Expo' or in English translation, the '2020 Newsis K-Expo,' held on August 26.
The coveted "daesang" won by the K-pop band is an award vested to the rising Korean Wave stars who aim to develop the Korean Wave and elevate the position and populace of the K-pop culture on the global music stage.
The same day the girls took home the award, their home management and recording label, Starship Entertainment, welcomed a prize. The said award vests to agencies that positively contribute to the cultural content industry's innovation and development, spreading and making known the Korean Wave, and the newfound K-pop idols. The award received by the agency is the renowned 'Korea Creative Content Agency Award,' defining the spot of their girl group on the global stage.
Since the girl group's debut in 2016, Cosmic Girls has soared their distinctive musical taste that tells stories of various concepts and ideas. Moreover, some band members are performing at their best on drama OST, entertainment, and acting.
For the time being, the group gave prominence to their new record called 'Butterfly,' which is a piece of their mini-album entitled 'Neverland.' The said track is loved by music fans and critics from various parts of the world, leading the record to get a feature on Billboard.
'Butterfly' is produced by GALACTIKA and hails member Exy as one of its lyricists. The release comes with a mesmerizing music video where the girls show off the struggles one has to face when yielding to the transition process from a teenager to adulthood. The song's title sings of its name, symbolizing every girls' longing to fly and spread their wings: freedom.
