On June 22 KST, SpoTV News reported the possible comeback of ITZY by the end of July. The source cited that the girls have been preparing for the said comeback. Should the rumors be true, the comeback will be coming roughly five months after the release of their 2nd mini-album entitled ‘It’s Me’ which was released back in early March.
Even if the girls are still preparing for a comeback, their debut track ‘Dalla Dalla’ continues to rock fans on their official Youtube Channel. The music video currently surpassed 200 Million views and garnered 2.7 Million likes.
ITZY was formed by JYP Entertainment, with members Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, Charyeong, and Yuna. The five-member group debuted on February 12, 2019, with the release of their single album, 'It’z Different' that brought us the mesmerizing track ‘Dalla Dalla’.
It can be recalled that all the members of the group appeared in Mnet’s reality show Stray Kids as a project group against the boy group Stray Kids back in 2017.
In their journey as a quintet girl group, they have proven their massive influence by peaking at No. 2 on the World Digital Song Sales Charts, ‘Dalla Dalla’ registered 17.1 million ‘day-of’ views on Youtube, breaking the record for the most viewed K-pop debut music in history, according to Billboard.
In addition, ITZY earned two nominations during the 2020 Korean Music Awards, the Best Pop Song and Rookie of the Year.
According to a report under Yahoo sports, “The group was one of the few idol acts in the list, a feat they achieved by establishing themselves as a Gen Z K-pop group for whom self-expression and identity trump coming off as 'likeable' or 'soft-spoken,' as their fierce songs clarify.”
The group is a resemblance of what teamwork is, that even in their age where societal expectations try to grab their true self, they were able to create an ambiance of self-worth and self-acceptance in their music.
Could ITZY be coming back this summer? Stay tuned hopefuls!
