The South Korean femme fatale, BLACKPINK, reaches the whopping 1.3 billion views on Youtube for their 'DDU-DU DDU-DU' music video. The all-girl group's remarkable feat was made possible on September 5 (Saturday) at 10:15 P.M., following the Korean time zone.
Furthermore, as per Soompi, BLACKPINK's new milestone was achieved after two years, two months, and 21 days since the music video was made known on June 15, 2018.
What's stunning is that it is the first time that a K-pop music video has surpassed the said mark on Youtube views since PSY's.
Previously, 'DDU-DU DDU-DU' was the still first music video by a K-pop girl group to hit 1 billion views on the same streaming platform in November of last year. Adding to their long list of Youtube Hall of Famers, BLACKPINK's 'Kill This Love' also reached the 1-billion-mark the previous week.
No doubt, BLACKPINK has proved their domination to the global music scene as they belong to the roster of South Korean artists that possesses music videos that reached 1.3 billion views, naming one is PSY's 'Gentleman' and 'Gangnam Style.'
BLINKS from across the globe are thriving to add 'Ice Cream' to the list, a product of the K-pop queens' team-up with American pop star Selena Gomez as they heat the stage for the release of their first full-length album.
According to Korea Joongang Daily's recent report, the music video is among the most-watched music videos on Youtube, earning 1.2 billion views two months ago. The said music video experience skyrocketed its views from 1 billion to 1.1 billion instantly in four months, then from 1.1 billion to 1.2 billion in three months, and 1.2 billion to 1.3 billion in two months!
According to YG Entertainment, the song is a piece of the group's 2018 EP entitled 'Square Up,' which is the most-seen K-pop music video worldwide.
