MAMAMOO’s agency, RBW Entertainment opens up about the suspension of Hwasa’s activities including the ‘KCON: TACT 2020 SUMMER’- an online event that is taking place from June 20 to June 26.
Hwasa reportedly experienced an uneasy feeling on her back during her dance practice session. The statement of RBW statement reads:
"Hello, this is RBW. Recently, MAMAMOO member Hwasa was practicing the choreography for the title track of her solo mini album when she suddenly felt pain in her lower back. She went to the hospital and underwent a detailed examination.”
“It is not a major injury, but it is possible that it will become worse as she continues to promote. It was the medical experts’ opinion that she needs a period of rest and stability.”
They added, “As a result, Hwasa will not be participating in the KCON: TACT 2020 performance scheduled for June 25. Hwasa’s future activities will be determined by the status of her recovery. We ask for the understanding of the fans who love MAMAMOO, and we will do our best to manage our artists’ condition so that they can promote in good health.

Earlier this week, Hwasa unveiled the tracklist of her upcoming album. It will be featuring seven tracks including the title track ‘Maria’, Block B Zico’s produced song and, a song featuring rapper DPR live.
On June 23, MAMAMOO’s Hwasa released her enchanting MV teaser for ‘Maria’ (based on her first real name) in YouTube entitled ‘마리아 (Maria)’ (morte ver.). It made all the fans excited for June 29, the drop off date of her first solo mini-album ‘Maria’.
One fan commented, “It looks so gorgeous! She looks phenomenal! I can‘t wait for the album to drop and stream it all day!”
Hwasa made her solo debut on February 13, 2019, with the single ‘Twit’ that became the third most popular Korean music video by a female soloist in 2019.
