Daechwita once again makes an incredible milestone in the K-pop scene!
Agust D refers to the stage name of an alter ego produced by BTS Suga for his solo work. He established the alter ego "Agust D," extracted from the initials DT, short for his place of birth, Daegu Town, and meant to spell backward by "Suga," to distinguish his work from those of his work as Suga of BTS.
Min Yoongi started writing song lyrics and collaborating with MIDI at age 13, before pursuing his professional life as the Suga of South Korean boy group BTS.
He also kept a minimum wage job writing and arranging songs at a 17-year-old in a recording studio. He was involved as an underground rap artist under the pseudonym "Gloss," and initially enters as a producer of Big Hit Entertainment in 2010. He trained for three years with members J-Hope and RM within Big Hit Entertainment, before marking his BTS debut in 2013.
Moreover, both he and his co-member RM received backlash from the South Korean underground rap scene for "selling-out" and being K-pop stars in the initial years of his career with BTS. All these sentiments are becoming the subject matter of the compositions that he makes under the pseudonym "Agust D."
On May 22, 2020, Agust D launched his new mixtape entitled "D-2," and it became a big success almost immediately. Amid inconsistencies and misleading speculation about a production flaw, D-2 continues to chart well. (via Kpopstarz)
The album's highest point was 11 on the Billboard 200, at seven on the Official UK Chart and two on the ARIA ranking, establishing three new milestones by a Korean recording artist for the US's highest-ranking album, UK, and Australia.
"Daechwita" premiered on the Billboard Rap Digital Album Sales Chart at number 1, becoming a Korean musician's highest-ranking and first single to do so.
Furthermore, "Daechwita" from "D-2" reached 100 # 1s on iTunes on September 15, 2020, rendering Agust D the first male soloist and first Korean artist ever to get his single and track hit a 100 # 1s on iTunes, breaking records productively.
