Zico, the "digital monster," is back with a new summer track, and it is hot in more ways than one!
On July 1, Zico released the extended play 'Random Box,' with the title track 'Summer Hate,' featuring the iconic idol, Rain. The title track was written and co-composed by Zico.
According to Zico, the song talks about the annoyance that someone feels through the excessive heat of a summer day.
The singer also released a fun and creative music video for the title track 'Summer Hate' that exaggerates how hot summer can get on the same day the album was released.
Moreover, Rain adds to the quirky fun of the song as he sings and dances along to the carefree beat. The music video also alludes to Zico's viral success earlier this year by including a "dance challenge" portion, WTK reported.
'Random Box' is reported to be Zico's first summer mini-album. Compared to his previous releases, the mini-album is something lighter that people can readily appreciate listening to.
The album consists of six tracks, including Zico's hit track, 'Any Song.' The other songs on the mini-album include 'Roommate,' 'No You Can't,' and '만화영화(Cartoon).'
Besides 'Summer Hate' with Rain, the album features another collaboration as well. Singer BIBI lent her vocals alongside Zico on the track' 원수,' reported by Hellokpop.
As per Starbiz, when asked why he chose Rain to feature in his title track, he responded, "I hope it rains right before the chorus, and as soon as I finished that part, I thought of Rain. Thankfully enough, he gladly accepted the casting request!"
On July 2, Zico garnered a lot of attention after his title track 'Summer Hate' hit No. 1 on Melon, Genie, and Bugs' realtime charts and additionally ranked at No. 21 on Flo's realtime chart and No. 56 on Soribada's realtime chart.
The singer just proved that he is indeed a music powerhouse with his chart ranking amid fierce competition among female artists like BLACKPINK, MAMAMOO's Hwasa, and Sunmi having their comebacks around the same time.
