It turns out that Reveluvs had it right all along. After creating a buzz on social media about suspicions of a subunit formed by Red Velvet's Irene and Seulgi, SM Entertainment finally confirmed that two members will be launched as a duo.
It can be recalled that a fan recently posted speculations that Irene and Seulgi were forming a sub-unit after they were spotted filming by a fan wearing matching outfits.
While the fan said that she could not be sure if the Red Velvet members were filming for a concept shoot or an MV, it fanned the flames of suspicion within the Reveluv fandom as fans took to social media to share their excitement.
Fans immediately expressed support and said that Irene and Seulgi will make an excellent sub-unit combo because of their similar looks and their well-matched vocal and dancing skills. Some fans were already speculating what the group's name will be.
Seulgi and Irene also recently appeared on the cover of Nylon Magazine with the concept We Heart It.
"Seulgi and Irene are preparing their first unit album. The release date will be revealed once it is finalized," SM Entertainment said in their official statement.
The label, however, refrained from providing any more details about the project.
It can be recalled that even before SM Entertainment's decision, fans have been pushing for a collaboration between the pair after seeing their chemistry at work in 'SR14G SEULGI & IRENE Be Natural performance for SMTOWN back in 2014.
